Sri lanka beat New Zealand by in the low scoring opening match of Compaq Cup tri series in the day-night game oOn Tuesday, 8th September, 2009 at Colombo. SL made 216/7 in 50 overs and NZ made
Sri Lanka got a bad start as they reduced to 5-69 in 25 overs but a brilliant century by Thilan Samarweera with 104 runs of 124 balls with 10 fours and got Sri Lanka to a respectable total of 216/7 in 50 overs, well supported by Angelo Mathews with 51 runs.
In reply New Zealand got even a worst start reduced to 6-41 in 19 overs and finally bowled out on 119 runs as only Grant Elliot shown some resistance with 41 runs as Lasith Malinga took 4 wickets.

India clinched the 4 match ODI series by 2-1 against host West Indies, as 4th ODI called off due to heavy rain after just 7.3 overs of play on Sunday, 5th July 2009 at Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia. This is the fifth straight ODI series victory for India and only the second in West Indies.India won the toss and elected to bowl first and Ishanth Sharma took the wicket of danger man captain Chris Gayle on the 2nd ball of the match.
